It seems that I am not alone in wondering about the logic of advertising Earth's and humanity's existence.

From today's (4/26/10) Baltimore Sun:

Space aliens out there and they're dangerous

London - British astrophysicist Stephen Hawkings says aliens are out in space, but it could be too dangerous for humans to interact with extraterrestrial life.

He says a visit by extraterrestrials to Earth would be like Christopher Columbus arriving in the Americas, "which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans."
