DVDs Worth Having

My wife and I have literally thousands of recordings including 78s, reel-to-reel tapes, cassettes, and of course, CDs and MP3. Yet, we have only about 5 or 6 DVDs. The first one I bought was Disney's Fantasia and we have a couple of operas. The remaining two are from the following site, Animusic, computer animated music site.

Sure, as a computer geek and professor you would expect me to have something like this. However, trust me when I say that these are well worth your investigation, if only to download some clips. What you need to recognize is that these are NOT animations "set to music" but musical animations. The animated instruments are integrated with the MIDI code which is created to produced the music. The MIDI code then triggers the specific instruments or notes. Each note and instrument is a complex combination of MID information, which also generates the sound and the animation properties. Fascinating programming.

Check out some of the downloads and clips. Then purchase one or two.
