The Saga Comes to an End

This evening at 8:30 pm the Verizon technician, who arrived at noon finally left, having spent 8.5 hours getting our phone and DSL working. The fellow spent the time trying to find one solid pair of wires in the cables that had been update, modified, spliced and lastly (see below) replace to some extent over the course of the past 45 years. To do so, he had to trace them literally from pole to pole and match and reconnect them at each junction between the house and the main box. What a mess. No wonder that Verizon is pushing FIOS so hard. The old system is killing them, and me.
