In today's Investor's Business Daily, was a lengthy article about China, labor strikes and their possible affects upon business. One of the statements included was this:
"Public efforts to curb the birth rate have been so successful that the proportion of working-age persons in the general population is expected to be halved by 2030."
Given a population of 1.3 billion and assuming that 2/3 are of working-age (about 1 Billion), that means that 500 Million workers will be available in 2030 to support their families and most importantly, their country.
What are the implications of this transition, both for China and for the rest of the world where similar reductions in populations will occur??
