It Just Takes Money

I noticed in today's Sun that Nancy Grasmick, MD State Schools Superintendent, wants to increase the time needed for public school teachers' tenure from 2 years to 3 or 4 years. It's amazing that just the other day, the Gates foundation did not award a grant to Maryland to help in the writing of a grant to obtain some of the Federal educational dollars because the period needed for public school teachers' tenure was too short. While this issue has been raised countless time with no results, NOW it is being serious considered. GMAB. A two year period has always been a ridiculous and has resulted in far too many teachers being entitled to jobs for life with little chance of removal and minimal accountability. Money talks. It would be nice to get what we paid for.
