Decade of Disgust

Predictably, all of the media is culminating their last week's activities for 2009 with various reviews, vignettes and observations of the past 10 years, i.e. the first decade of the 21 st. century. While I know that we have much for which to be thankful, both on the personal and broader levels, I look back and think of this as the Decade of Disgust. I think about religious extremism, political corruption, "mission accomplished," failure to perform obvious duties, and on and on.
