Knowing - The movie

Last night we watched the movie "Knowing." My five star rating: -3, i.e. don't bother!!

However, upon reflection, the destruction of the world in the movie, earth as we know it and everything thereon, by a gigantic solar flare certainly makes one think.

It is well recognized that the sun will eventually die, perhaps billions of years from now, but what about such things as solar flares, or meteorites like that which is theorized as being responsible for the demise of the dinosaurs? The movie made it clear that there is nothing that mankind can do in such extreme cases but bend over and kiss it good bye. So, what's the use? Why then do we spend so much of our time aggravating over the kinds of BS that fills the headlines instead of aiming toward some common ends? - Just wondering.
